Government Polytechnic, Mumbai was established in 1960 is a public institution recognised by AICTE. The college provides a range of undergraduate diploma, certificate, postgraduate diploma, and post-10th diploma programmes. The polytechnic college offers diploma courses in ten specialisations. Admission is based on merit and is done through a centralised admission process by the Directorate of Technical Education, Mumbai. The total fees charged by Government Polytechnic Mumbai for the diploma courses is Rs 10, 276 for general and Rs 4,276 for EWS, SC and ST candidates. There is no tuition fee charged for TFWS category students.

The college is acceptable; nevertheless, it has shortcomings. Infrastructure is designed in modern, and all the facilities are in excellent condition. Hence, an entirety of educational course served will be satisfying. It should be noted that faculty members are generally smart and helpful, although some might most likely be rigid and they are difficult to interact with.

The admission process for the undergraduate medical courses at the Government Polytechnic, Mumbai is currently closed. Admission directly to 2nd year can be done through lateral entry program. In this you should have diploma in Mechanical engineering. There are many university which offer lateral entry admission, for example LPU, allow admission in B.Tech in Mechanical engineering.
